Trying to See Something Good

I decided to get out and drive somewhere new today and ended up at Burgess Falls.

I’m still missing home a lot. Some days it feels heavier than others, and I’m still trying to figure out what life here is supposed to look like.

But I made a promise to myself that if I’m going to be here, I’m at least going to try to see what’s around me.

And this place was beautiful.

The waterfall drops down into this huge green gorge, and I stood there for a while just looking at it from every angle I could find.

I didn’t suddenly stop missing home because I saw something pretty. But for a little while, I wasn’t sitting around thinking about how badly I wanted to be somewhere else.

For today, that was enough.
