I went out exploring by myself today and ended up at Shelby Bottoms Greenway.
I definitely wasn't planning on walking the whole thing because this trail just keeps going. π I really just wanted to get out of the house, walk for a while, and see what I could find.
And that's pretty much what I did.
I wandered down different parts of the trail, found tunnels covered in graffiti and murals, and kept going whenever something ahead looked interesting.
I'm starting to really like doing this by myself. There's nobody rushing me, nobody deciding where we're going next, and I don't have to have a plan. If I want to stop and take twenty pictures of something random, I can. If I want to see where a path goes, I go.
I think I'm learning that sometimes I don't need a destination. I just need somewhere to wander.
Out Over the RiverΒ
Eventually I made my way out onto the pedestrian bridge, and this ended up being my favorite part.
The view from up there was beautiful. I could see the river stretching out in both directions, all the trees along the banks, and then I spotted this huge riverboat coming down the Cumberland.
So of course I stopped and watched it.
It came closer and closer until it passed right underneath the bridge, and I stood up there taking entirely too many pictures of the whole thing. π
This is exactly the kind of stuff I keep finding when I get out with no real plan. I could've stayed home today, but instead I ended up standing over the Cumberland River watching a riverboat pass underneath me.
I'm starting to think getting a little lost might be good for me.
