A Little Piece of Home
Love Circle • Nashville • July 18, 2026
My babygirl came to visit, and having her here meant more to me than she probably realized.
I'd already started falling in love with finding beautiful places to watch the sunset, and when I found somewhere special, I wanted to share it with the people who were special to me. So of course while she was here, I had to take her to Love Circle.
I was still missing home terribly during this part of my life. I was trying to adjust to Tennessee and trying to make myself get out and experience things instead of sitting at home thinking about everything and everybody I missed. But having one of my babies here with me was different. For a little while, a piece of home had come to me.
We didn't need some big plan. We just sat on the hill overlooking Nashville and watched the sky change until the sun disappeared behind the hills.
And this time, I didn't have to watch it alone.
Watching the Sun Go Down
One of my favorite views, with one of my favorite people.
There's something about watching a sunset that makes everything slow down for a little while. No matter what I've got going on in my head, I'll sit there and watch until that last little piece of sun disappears.
By July, I was missing home more than I probably let on most days. I missed my family. I missed having my kids close. I missed the familiarity of the life I'd had for so long. I was trying to make the best of where I was, but that didn't mean I wasn't homesick.
That's why this night meant so much to me. I got to share something I'd started loving here with someone I loved more than anything.
For one evening, I didn't have to choose between missing home and trying to find something beautiful in this new life.
I had a little piece of both sitting right there with me.
One I Wanted to Keep
I took a lot of pictures that evening, like I always do when the sky is putting on a show. But looking back, what I really wanted to remember wasn't just the sunset.
It was having my babygirl there with me.
I was learning how to build a life away from the people I loved, and some days I handled that better than others. July was still hard. Home wasn't just somewhere I missed visiting. It was where my people were, where my life had been, and where a big part of me still wanted to be.
So getting to bring someone I loved into this little part of the life I was trying to build meant a lot to me.
The sunset was beautiful. Having her there to share it with was better.
