May 16, 2026 • Couchville Lake Loop Trail
I kept following the trail around the lake, and one thing I noticed was how low the water was. There were huge stretches of shoreline exposed that looked like they would normally be underwater. I'm guessing we just haven't had much rain lately because it was really low.
Eventually I came across this long wooden bridge stretching out over the water, which was probably my favorite part of the trail.
And I actually made it all the way around this one. It may only be around two miles, but I'm still getting used to walking a few miles at a time, so I'm counting it. 😂
There was something different to see all the way around — wooded paths, the exposed rocky shoreline, little places to stop, and that bridge that seemed to go on forever.
Two miles down. Another new place explored.
A Little Farther Around
I kept following the trail around the lake for a while. One thing I noticed almost immediately was how low the water was. There were huge stretches of shoreline exposed that looked like they would normally be underwater. I'm guessing we just haven't had much rain lately, because it was really low.

I didn't make it around everything out here today. I'm still getting used to walking longer distances, and a few miles is plenty for me right now. 😂
But I liked this one. There was something different to see as I went — wooded paths, the exposed rocky shoreline, little places to stop, and that bridge that seemed to go on forever.
I'm learning that I don't have to walk every mile of a trail or see every single thing for it to count.
I got out, I walked, I saw somewhere new, and that was enough for today.
