I made myself get out of the house again today and decided to try another greenway.
Working from home is a lot more isolating than I ever expected it to be. I can literally work an entire day without seeing another person, and when I'm already missing home as much as I am, sitting in the house by myself afterward isn't exactly helping.
So even when I don't necessarily feel like going anywhere, I'm trying to make myself go.
Today that meant Richland Creek Greenway.
I didn't need anything exciting to happen. I just needed some fresh air, somewhere to walk, and honestly, just to be around other people for a little while.
So I put my shoes on, got out of the house, and started walking.
Once I got going, I really liked this one. A lot of the trail followed along Richland Creek, with these long wooden walkways and bridges running through the trees.
It was quiet without feeling completely deserted, which I definitely appreciated. 😂 There were open areas, people around here and there, and then stretches where it was just me walking through the trees with the creek beside me.
I didn't really have anywhere I needed to get to. I just kept walking, stopping on the bridges to look down at the water and taking pictures whenever I saw something I liked.
I'm starting to understand why getting out here helps me so much. Sometimes I don't need to do anything. I just need to get out of the house and move for a while.
By the time I was done, I felt better than I did when I left the house.
Part of it was physical. I'd gotten some exercise, spent time outside, and actually moved instead of sitting at home all day.
But I felt better mentally too. My head felt a little clearer, and for a while I hadn't been sitting around thinking about how much I missed home.
I still missed it. That hadn't changed.
But for a little while today, I felt okay.
